What the Adult program is

One hour, twice a week.

There is no “right age” to begin martial arts. Whether you’re stepping onto the mat for the first time or returning to training after years away, our Adult Program meets you where you are and gives you room to grow from there.

Our curriculum is a well-rounded, practical system of martial arts and self-defense that draws from multiple disciplines. Students develop skills in blocking, striking, kicking, takedowns, containment, joint locks and submissions, while building the awareness, confidence and control to use those skills effectively.

But the training goes beyond technique. Martial arts gives us an opportunity to better understand ourselves.. our strengths, our habits, our limits and our potential. At True North, the goal isn’t to become someone different. It’s to become more capable, more confident and more connected to who you already are.

What a class looks like

A Place for Everyone.

Our adult students range from their teens to their sixties, with different backgrounds, abilities and reasons for training. What they share is a supportive community and a genuine sense of camaraderie. Everyone has a place on the mat here.

You don’t need any previous experience or a certain level of fitness to begin. Training is designed to meet you where you are. Strength, endurance, coordination and overall fitness develop naturally as you progress.

Every new student receives personal attention and is introduced to the class and curriculum at a pace that feels right for them. You’ll be challenged to grow, encouraged along the way, and surrounded by people who want to see you succeed.

What families say

I can honestly say that this place changed my seven year old grandson’s life. He started as a very very shy little boy. Master Melissa and her staff are the best. My little boy has come out of his shell and is showing so much more confidence. They not only teach karate but also basic life lessons which are invaluable.

Theresa Valenti

This place is so much more than just a school, it’s a community and a family. Through her teaching and guidance my son has developed a set of skills that he will carry with him for the rest of his life. They are kind, patient and knowledgeable. I can’t say enough positive things about this place.
